THE SOCIAL EDIT

A room holds memories, and we believe memories can hold a room - vivid, inspiring and loving. We find out what holds true meaning to you and reflect it back in your surroundings.

THE LIBRARY

Around 1850, this library was built as an extension of the original house. It was painted red and filled with masterworks of poetry, history and science. The legend says no book shall ever leave this library, or the one who disrespects the integrity of the collection will be haunted! So, we decided to make it even more red, and true to a proper library design, build sections dedicated to each topic. The new custom-built bookshelves were designed in french-style woodwork and painted in Farrow & Ball’s Rectory Red. A double chaise sofa was custom built in Thibaut’s Luxe Weave.

A timeless touch of contemporary furniture can be refreshing in a classical space, where a room can be a bridge between antique and modern. The calming colour of eucalyptus coloured paint by Designers Guild, earthy tones and wood make this sitting room an immensely peaceful and relaxing space.

THE LIVING ROOM

In the midst of the work of renovating the study in a turn-of-the-century villa, after stripping the walls of layers of materials telling all kinds of stories (including a newspaper from 1941!), we uncovered a rectangle in the wall timber filled with more timber! This was a window in the original construction that once was closed, and we decided to open it up again. The room then took on a new shape, and the bookshelves had to be designed to accommodate for this beautiful window. The natural light that reached the room allowed for a bold dark color on the walls and woodwork, Farrow & Ball’s Stiffkey Blue, and the result is a very cozy office, or call it man cave!

THE STUDY

Pick a feature in one of our projects and we will likely have a unique story behind it. In this case, to honor the memory of a dedicated mother and avid hostess, the five double doors that lead into the dining room were decorated with her favourite birds and flowers. True to the époque of the villa, hese were hand-painted in the style of Lars Bolin, a Swedish 18th century decor painter.
